2/7/2023 Meeting Info and Announcement

Greetings Fellow Republicans,

Happy New Year! I hope your holidays were wonderful, peaceful, and not too fattening.

I thoroughly enjoyed the short break from politics, but it’s time to look ahead and get organized for the coming year..

FIRST, SOME ACCOLADES

Thanks to everyone’s hard work and support, Jasper County is now RED! County Councilmen Marty Sauls IV, Coy Garbade and new State Rep. Bill Hager have been sworn in and are now at work for us. Treasurer Mike Skinner and Auditor Megan Horton are busy with transitioning and will begin their terms when the fiscal year begins in June.

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED

The chairmanship of the Republican National Committee is being decided in the next two weeks. While South Carolina had a great election, the rest of the country didn’t ride the red wave as expected. I lay a lot of blame at the feet of RNC Chairman Ronna McDaniel. She does not deserve another term at the RNC and must be replaced. I don’t know if that means supporting Harmeet Dhillon (a lawyer and former Vice Chair of the California Republican Party and founder of Center for American Liberty) or some other consensus candidate, but McDaniel must go.

The SCGOP leaders who will help decide the chairmanship are State Chairman Drew McKissick, State Executive Committeeman Glenn McCall, and State Executive Committeewoman Cindy Costa. If you feel that Ronna McDaniel must be replaced, please contact all of them and politely make your feelings known.

Glenn McCall glenn.a.mccall@gmail.com

Cindy Costa cindycostarnc@gmail.com

(Drew, Glenn and Cindy will all come up for re-election themselves at the SCGOP Convention in May. It would behoove them to take our comments into consideration.)

OUR NEXT MEETING

The next regular Party meeting will be on Tuesday, February 7th at Hardeeville Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Social and refreshments at 6:00pm, meeting at 6:30. The topic will be the “Importance of Reorg” which must take place in March. We will discuss what reorg is, why it matters, and how you can participate and make a difference in the Party and its growing influence.

We will also have a message from Rep. Bill Hager about his experience as a new representative and the issues he is working on in Columbia.

A LITTLE PERSPECTIVE

The 2022 election cycle was a frustrating roller coaster ride. There was no red wave on the national level AND THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN! Thanks alot, Mitch McConnell and Ronna McDaniel. Kevin McCarthy should have had a larger majority in the House, also.

It took Kevin McCarthy 15 rounds to win the Speakership. Many people were mad at the holdouts. I was not. Those holdouts were the strong conservatives in the Freedom Caucus who fought for and won some great concessions to the rules for how the House will be run. We’re returning to pre-Pelosi era governance where bills will be read and debated before voting, and amendments will be heard, not dismissed. As Dan Bongino said, “This is what power looks like.”

Right now, we have the most power right here at home. We flipped the county red, and our influence is growing within the state. While the future Presidential election outcome is anyone’s guess at this point, we have two more County Council seats, the Sheriff and a State Senate seat to flip in ’24.

Please stay involved and engaged as we reorganize and build our County Party in preparation for an exciting and successful election cycle in 2024. If you haven’t paid your 2023 membership fee to the SCJCRP, please consider saving us the time to contact you to keep you in good standing! Single $30, Family $40, SCGOP Elephant Club $240-$1,000. Thank you for all you do to keep our elected leaders aware of the SCGOP Fundamental Principles!

See you on the 7th,

Karen Wyld
